About Us

Since 1991, the UBC Pre-Law Association has been dedicated to supporting and empowering students on their path to legal education. As the largest and most active pre-law club at UBC, we offer a wide range of resources to help students navigate the journey to law school, whether in Canada, the U.S., or abroad. From LSAT prep tools and exclusive discounts to speaker panels, networking events, and peer-led socials, we aim to build both confidence and community among aspiring legal professionals.

Our team is organized into several departments, including Presidential, External, Internal, Events, Marketing, Finance, and our newest addition in 2025, the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) department. Within the Presidential department, we also oversee special initiatives like the Undergraduate Opportunity Directory, the UBC Pre-Law Legal Journal, and our Allard Law Liaison Committee.

Each year, we host a variety of events to help students learn more about legal education and careers. Some of our key events include:

• Admissions Night – Students hear directly from Canadian and American law school admissions staff and get advice on how to strengthen their applications.
• Taste of Law – A hands-on experience where professionals walk students through real legal scenarios and lessons from different areas of law.
• Life of a Law Student – A chance to talk with law students from across Canada about their application process, law school life, and tips for success.
• Law Beyond Private Practice – An event focused on the many paths you can take with a JD that go beyond working at a traditional law firm.
• Court and Law Firm Visits – Guided tours of courts and firms in the Greater Vancouver Area to give students a behind-the-scenes look at the legal world.
• Wine & Cheese – Our year-end networking night where students can connect with legal professionals in a casual and friendly setting.
